A message from our CEO

At Action for Eastern Montana, we see the faces of poverty every day. They are not strangers; they are our friends, our neighbors, and members of our community. They are the people we see in our churches, at our children's schools, working down the hall, and living down the street.

Our mission is to support these individuals and families, and we understand that poverty in Eastern Montana often looks very different from what many might imagine. Our clients are hardworking individuals who stretch themselves to achieve success, yet still find it challenging to make ends meet.

Through our various programs, we strive to make a tangible difference in their lives:

· Energy Assistance: Our Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) helps families keep their homes warm during the harsh winter months, easing the burden of high energy bills.

· Weatherization: By improving the energy efficiency of homes, our weatherization programs help reduce energy costs, making homes more comfortable and affordable.

· Head Start: We prepare young children for school through our Head Start program, providing them with the tools they need for a bright future.

· Housing: Our Section 8 Housing Program ensures that veterans, low-income, elderly, and disabled individuals have access to affordable housing.

· Education and Training for Youth: We offer opportunities for young people to gain the skills and education they need to succeed in the workforce.

· Aging Services: We support our seniors with Medicare/Medicaid counseling and other essential services to help them navigate their healthcare options, support for meals at local Senior Centers and home delivery meals, food commodities, and grants to pay for small home improvements for older Americans to stay in their homes.

Our dedicated staff, partners, and local Board are committed to investing in individuals, families, and communities. We are driven by a strong sense of duty to meet the needs we uncover and discover. This focus has led to significant progress, with 32% of our survey respondents indicating they are less dependent on social programs than they were a year ago.

We hear countless success stories from our clients, area businesses, local churches, and elected officials. These stories inspire us and reaffirm the importance of our work. We urge you to share your story with your elected officials and encourage them to support the vital work of Action for Eastern Montana.

Together, we can continue to make a difference in the lives of those who call Eastern Montana home.

Sincerely,

Cindy Larsen, CEO
